I wanna soak up the sun!

My neighbor Lynn had an end of school picnic in the backyard today. The kids had a ball! I love taking pictures outside; it is so much fun to just be a part of the action and capture summer in a picture. As you can see, Sarah is better. I took her to the doctor this morning and her splint came off. They said she looked good and had full range of motion. We did almost have a repeat though. I went down the hill to help a little girl that was crying and slipped and fell and caught myself with my right hand. My Nikon D40 was in the left hand and I couldn't let go to catch myself. Sometimes, you have to sacrifice your body for things like your camera.

A girl and her dog

We think Rachel is going to be a vet when she grows up. She loves animals and watches animal planet whenever she gets a chance. She is always telling me things I didn't know about some animal. A few days ago, she was in the yard with Lily, so I snapped a couple of pictures of them.

Memorial Day Weekend

We finally have had some nice weather. Saturday, we hit the 70's! We planned a backyard BBQ with our friends and had about 30 people come. It was so nice and so much fun. We had burgers and hot dogs and spent most of the afternoon outside. The kids started playing in the water and it turned into a water wonderland. They had a blast. About 10 minutes into the water fight, Sarah tripped and fell and hurt her arm. I got her inside, dried off and out of her water soaked clothes and we decided to take her to the ER just to make sure it wasn't broken. After a couple of hours at the hospital, John called to let us know that she had fractured her elbow. She is in a splint and a sling for a few days and we will follow up with orthopedics this week. Thankfully, it wasn't worse.

We've been busy

With the end of school comes a busy time of year. We have had a lot going on and wanted to share some of that with you.

Awana year comes to an end.

Wednesday night was our last Awana night for the year. Hayden graduated from Cubbies, Rachel graduated from Sparks and Sarah and I finished up our T&T year. What a busy night! Hayden was so excited that he got to be on the stage; the Cubbies sang a couple of songs too. It was great to see all my T&T girls complete their year. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish out the year, but turns out I did. I have really enjoyed this group of girls and love that they have said 1010 sections this year!

Sarah's Party

Sarah had a sleepover for her party and you've already heard all about the cake. I just wanted to share a couple of pictures that were not of the cake. They played Mario Kart for the Wii and got to choose prizes from the prize basket. Sarah really enjoyed having everyone over.

Wii flopped!

Birthday cake confessions: Wii gone bad...Well, after all that hard work, at 5:30, the Wii came tumbling down. Right as Sarah's guests were getting here; down she went. Oh, well, at least I tried.

Wii are celebrating Sarah's birthday!

When I asked Sarah what kind of birthday she wanted, she wasn't sure. After thinking about it, she decided to have a Wii party. Well, Martha Stewart made a Wii cake and was on the cover of Wired magazine. Unfortunately, her cake was not edible. So, I googled Wii cake. I'm always up for a challenge and this was definitely a challenge. I told everyone that if we had cupcakes tonight, they'd know my Wii cake was a flop. I put it together last night and kept it in the freezer overnight and iced it this morning. Sarah chose red gel frosting instead of blue because it has sparkles in it. Otherwise, it looks a lot like the Wii. So, if you think you want to attempt it yourself, I've included pictures.

PWOC retreat

I just got back from the retreat I was working on. It was such a great weekend. Our speaker was Francine Saffold and she spoke on being prepared for the bridegroom. Her study was amazing! The retreat was at Miami University in Oxford Ohio. The campus was beautiful. I had a great time and wanted to share some of the photos. I didn't think I would be here for this retreat, so it was a huge blessing to be able to spend time with these ladies that I have grown so fond of. This is an amazing group of women.

You know when you're a mom, it feels like you come home and hit the ground running... We are celebrating Sarah's birthday a little early by letting her have a party with her friends before we move. She is having a Wii party and I am attempting a Wii cake. I'll let you know how that turns out.

The month of May already has us busy as I'm sure most of you are. We should know where we are going to be moving by the 15th of May. I'll be sure to let you know. For now, we are excited that our kids get to finish school in Ohio.
